India's FY-08 indirect tax receipts at Rs 2.79 tn

India's indirect tax receipts have crossed Rs 2.79 trillion in the year to March 2008, exceeding the government target, P C Jha, chairman of the Central Board of Excise and Customs said. Excise collections were at Rs 1.25 trillion and customs receipts were at Rs 1.04 trillion, he told reporters on the sidelines of a meeting of world customs officials.
