Prompt tax-payers who want to avail themselves of the five per cent early bird incentive by paying property tax for the entire year are disappointed.
The tax demand has not been uploaded till Tuesday and enquiries at the e-seva centres revealed that they are not ready to accept the remittances. The process will be completed by Tuesday night and from Wednesday payments will be accepted, it was learnt.
However, though there has been delay of 12 days on the part of the administration, the 5 per cent incentive will be available only up to April 30, it was learnt.
The Director of Municipal Administration has given time up to April 8 to finalise accounts for last year and upload the demand.
The payments by cheques had to be verified for realisation and if some of them bounced demand had to be raised afresh for that also, sources said.
For payment made in the first month alone, tax-payers are given an incentive of five per cent and it is not possible to avail the benefit for payment later.
Online payment
“Though I wanted to go to the e-seva centre at Madhavadhara to pay the property tax, the staff said that they are not accepting the payment,” said Sekhar of Muralinagar.
For online payment of the tax, while the dues are displayed payments options are not available.
It was learnt that the tax demand has to be uploaded by the IT wing of the GVMC after duly checking the display to enable acceptance at e-seva centres or giving online payment options.
