Report on National Convention for CA Students held at Pune on 1st& 2nd March, 2014

Under the aegis of Board of Studies, Pune Branch of WIRC of ICAI jointly with Pune Branch of
WICASA hosted a National Convention of CA Student on 1st & 2nd March, 2014.

The theme of the convention was "ONE MAN WITH COURAGE IS A MAJORITY" ­ Let us awaken
the spirit of power of one. It was a tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj who's heroic,
exemplary, outstanding and inspiring struggle against an imperial power became an icon of freedom
fighters in the Indian Independence struggle and who is respected by the entire cross section of
India. He has been a great source of inspiration and pride to the youth of our Country. It also aimed
to sharpen the leadership skills in the CA students who are the future partners in nation building.







The convention was attended by about 1500 CA students.

The formal inaugural session was graced by Chief Guest Shiv Shahir Shree B. M. Purandare alias
Babasaheb Purandare who is a well-known historian and has brought forth the life and heroic works
of Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharajin various inspiring ways, means and methods.

The dignitaries at the Inauguration session included the Chairman, Board of Studies, ICAI CA.
Devaraja Reddy, the Vice Chairman CA. Prafulla Chhajed, Pune branch nominee and Central Council
Member CA. S.B. Zaware the Chairman- WIRC CA. Anil Bhandari, the immediate past Chairman -
WIRC CA. Mangesh Kinare, the immediate past Chairman of WICASA CA. Mahesh Madkholkar,
Regional Council Member & Pune Branch Nominee & Chairman WICASA CA. Satyanarayan Mundada,
Pune branch nominee and Regional Council Member CA. Dilip Apte, CA. Rajeshkumar Patil-
Chairman- Pune Branch, CA. Yashwant Kasar- Vice Chairman Pune Branch & Chairman of Pune
Branch of WICASA, CA. Anand Jakhotiya, Secretary-Pune Branch, CA. Sachin Parkale, Treasurer-
Pune Branch, CA. Radhesham Agrawal, Managing Committee Member & Students' Coordinator-Pune
Branch, CA. Jagdeesh Dhongde, immediate past Chairman-Pune Branch, & CA. Rekha Dhamankar,
Managing Committee Member-Pune Branch.

Out of more than 140 papers received from CA Students 12 best papers were selected to be
presented in the four Technical Sessions on the subjects' viz. Direct Taxes, Indirect Taxes,
Companies Act-2013, & Accounts & Audit. The Technical Session Directors were CA. G Sekar-Central
Council Member & Chairman, Direct Taxes Committee- ICAI, CA. Rajendra Kumar P., former Central
Council Member, CS. Vinayak Khanvalkar, past President of Institute of Companies Secretary of
India (ICSI) and CA. S. B. Zaware, Central Council Member respectively.






There were four special sessions. The theme lecture was from Dr. Nitin Parab who has authored the
best seller "Leadership Learning's from Chhattrapati Shivaji Maharaj". The other special sessions
were "India Calling" motivational speech by Dr. Suresh Chari, a well-known Corporate Trainer, Soft
Skills Trainer, and Motivator, Motivational speech by CA. Anil Kulkarni on the importance of soft
skills in CA profession and relationship of Rupee with Dollar by CA. Dr. V. M. Govilkar.

The convention ended at bang with the cultural evening in which the CA students presented their
extra-curricular skills by way of Dancing, Singing etc.

The whole event was planned and executed by the Pune Branch Managing Committee Team and with
concrete support of the Managing Committee Members of Pune Branch of WICASA along-with the
volunteers of Pune Branch of WICASA and the Pune Branch Staff.
