Customs seize gold for second day on trot at International Airport
April, 15th 2014

Officers of Customs at Mangalore International Airport (MIA) at Kenjar on Monday seized gold weighing 272.900 grams, valued at Rs 8.02 lakh.

ThE gold was concealed in the form of foil strips in the carton box, brought as checked in baggage from the possession of a passenger Mohammed Jabir Baikkara, 23, resident of Mahinabad House of Kasargod district in Kerala. Mohammed arrived at MIA at 7.45am by Jet Airways flight 9W531 from Dubai, Hemen Gogoi, deputy commissioner of customs (airport) stated. On Sunday, customs officials had seized gold weighing 466,650 grams valued at Rs 13.71 lakh in two separate cases.
