Hundreds of assesses had a tough time on Monday on the last day of filing their monthly service tax returns. Against the scheduled time of reporting at 9 am, most of the employees at the Dandi Swami Chowk office did not report till 10.30 am. This led to long queues with advocates lining up to file returns of their clients.

Gurcharan Singh, Commissioner, Central Excise, said,I did not receive even a single complaint and all the assesses were attended by the employees. No one was refused filing of return. Staff worked till 7 pm and till then no one came with any complaint to me.
