Customs seize, worth Rs. 30 crore
April, 15th 2010

Customs officials seized heroin worth Rs. 30 crore in international market which was being sent to Canada from here.

According to Additional Commissioner of Indian Customs department S.M. Akhter, anti-smuggling staff of the Customs, on the basis of specific information, seized 6 kilogram of heroin worth Rs. 30 crore.

He said the drug consignment was being sent to Vancouver in Canada through a courier.

Akhter said the drug was being smuggled by concealing it under thick layers of mats used for performing Yoga.

Customs officials declined to divulge information regarding the name of accused and their arrest by saying further revelation may hamper the investigation process as alleged accused may flee before their arrest.
