Indirect tax collections surpass estimates

The Centre's indirect tax collections surpassed revised estimates of Rs 2,78,143 crore for 2007-08. Customs duty collection stood at Rs 1,04,000 crore, excise duty collection at Rs 1,25,000 crore and service tax at over Rs 50,000 crore, said the CBEC Chairman Mr P C Jha.
