Inviting applications for filling up the posts of two Members of the
Competition Appellate Tribunal.

      Applications are invited from Indian Nationals in the format given in
Annex-I for the posts of two Members of the Competition Appellate Tribunal.

2.    The selected candidates will be required to serve at the headquarters of
the Competition Appellate Tribunal at New Delhi.

3.     Qualifications: As per the Competition Act, 2002, a Member of the
Competition Appellate Tribunal shall be a person of ability, integrity and standing
having special knowledge of, and professional experience of not less than twenty
five years in, competition matters including competition law and policy,
international trade, economics, business, commerce, law, finance, accountancy,
management, industry, public affairs, administration or in any other matter which
in the opinion of the Central Government, may be useful to the Appellate
Tribunal.

4.     Salary: Member of the Competition Appellate Tribunal shall be paid a
salary of eighty thousand rupees (fixed) per mensem and admissible allowances
which include general pool residential accommodation or House Rent allowance
as is admissible to a Group `A' officer of the Central Government or State
Government drawing equivalent pay.

5.      Tenure: Member of the Competition Appellate Tribunal shall hold office as
such for a term of five years from the date on which he/she enters upon his/her
office, and shall be eligible for re-appointment:

      Provided that no member of the Appellate Tribunal shall hold office as
such after he/she has attained the age of sixty-five years.

6.     The application form may be down-loaded from Ministry's website
(www.mca.gov.in) or the Competition Appellate Tribunal's website
(www.compat.nic.in) or from Department of Personnel & Training's website
(http://persmin.gov.in).

7.     Applications in the prescribed format, duly completed should reach Shri J.
B. Kaushish, Under Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, `A' Wing, 5th Floor,

The person selected will have to be declared medically fit by a Medical Board to be constituted by the Central Government for the purpose, unless he/she has already been declared fit by the equivalent authority. Additional requirements for Government employees 1. Person selected, if already in government service, will have to seek retirement before appointment. 2. Applications of the persons already in Government service should be forwarded through proper channel. The forwarding authorities should also certify that the entries in the application have been verified from the records and found correct, and that no disciplinary/vigilance proceedings are either pending or contemplated against the officer as well as no major/minor penalties imposed on the officer during the last ten years. The forwarding authorities should forward the application with the following documents:- (i) Up-to-date and complete Confidential Report (CR) dossiers in original/ attested photocopies of last 5 years Annual Confidential Reports (ACR) of the candidate. (ii) Integrity Certificate (iii) Vigilance Clearance including certification that no disciplinary proceedings or criminal proceedings are either pending or contemplated against the officer concerned. (iv) List of major/ minor penalties, if any, imposed on the candidates during the last ten years/ No penalty certificate. 3. The applications of candidates received without the CR dossiers/ACRs, or which contain incomplete information, or received after the due date will not be entertained.
