No interest if tax dues paid before March 31
March, 12th 2013

Municipal administration minister Manugunta Maheedhar Reddy on Monday said no interest would be collected on property tax dues in municipalities and corporations if the tax is paid before this March 31.

The municipal authorities usually collect interest on late payment of property taxes. “No interest will be collected if the dues are paid before March 31. The layout regularisation schemes (LRS) will be extended by three more months in newly formed Nagara Panchayats,” he said.

The minister said arrangements have been made to face drinking water crisis in summer. “There won’t be any drinking water problem in Hyderabad till July,” he said.

When asked about conducting elections in municipalities and corporations, the minister said elections would be conducted only after the poll process for mandals, grama panchyats and zilla parishads gets completed.
