Inaugurating a newly constructed building of the department here, Singh said service tax, which was growing at 17 per cent, was likely to remain at Rs 2000 crore this fiscal.

"We are conducting Anti-corruption meeting with officials in all circles (Patna, Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Jamshedpur) on regular basis as the aim was zero tolerance on corruption," Singh said adding that the department was also making efforts to ensure full tax compliance.

Referring to tax defaulters in the current fiscal, Singh said 250 cases had been registered on this account in the current fiscal in Bihar and Jharkhand.

While 200 cases were registered in connection with Central Excise, 50 cases were related to service tax, Singh said claiming that the total amount of tax default was to the tune of Rs 140 crore.

The Commissioner of Jamshedpur circle, P K Katiyar said the total collection of revenue of his commissionerate during the current fiscal till January, 2016 was Rs 2750.96 crore from Central Excise and Rs 459.10 crore from Service Tax.

"We are expecting to collect Rs 4000 crores from Jamshedpur circle by March," he said.
