OF CANNABIS HAVING TOTAL SEIZURE VALUE OF RS. 60.00 LAKH Acting on a specific intelligence, Siliguri DRI officers of Kolkata Zonal Unit had effected a seizure of 128 packets of cannabis weighing 1821.28 kg. valued at Rs. 54.64 lakh from a truck bearing registration no. NL 02G-5421 on 18.02.2011 at Ghoshpukur, Dist-Darjeeling, W.B. The 128 packets of cannabis, recovered from the truck were kept concealed under 11,484 kg. of coal valued at Rs. 34,452/- . The 1821.28 kg of cannabis, 11,484 kg. of coal and the carrier truck were seized in terms of the provisions of NDPS Act, 1985. Total seizure value of the case is Rs. 60.00 lakh. The driver and the helper of the carrier vehicle who knowingly involved in carrying the cannabis were arrested. Further investigation is in progress.
