India Official: Direct Tax Revenue So Far This Fiscal Year

India has collected INR2.77 trillion in direct tax revenue so far this fiscal year through March, the chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes said Wednesday. "This (revenue) is a growth of 8% over the corresponding period last fiscal year," S.S.N. Moorthy told Dow Jones Newswires on the sidelines of a tax conference. Moorthy said he is hopeful of achieving this fiscal year's aim of INR3.7 trillion in direct tax revenue. "We are working toward it," he added.
