Food inflation rose 17.58 percent in the 12 months to February 13, while the fuel price index was up 9.89%, the government said on Thursday.
The rise in the food price index was lower than an annual rise of 17.97 percent in the previous week.
India's primary articles price index was up 15.84 percent year-on-year as on Feb. 13.
India's annual wholesale price inflation (WPI) picked up to 8.56 percent in January, compared with 7.31 percent last December. Climbing food and fuel costs along with a pickup in manufacturing prices are expected to push the headline inflation to 10 percent by March, according to some analysts and India's chief statistician Pronab Sen.
