Did disgraced Satyam chairman B Ramalinga Raju inflate the receipts (income), especially in relation to income on exports which was not taxed because of exemptions? Was the actual income on software exports less than that shown? While Income Tax officials are all geared up to quiz Ramalinga Raju tomorrow, top sources disclosed to Express that the above two questions will form a major part of the grilling, permitted by the Court inside Chanchalguda Jail between 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. tomorrow. The IT team will be headed by an in-charge Deputy Commissioner and a Deputy Director under the supervision of an official of the Additional Commissioner rank.
Sources said the questionnare was prepared as per the directions of Director General, IT, Amalendu Das. However, Das will not be physically present in the interrogation.
IT officials will be seeking answers from Raju on several issues, including fund flow and whether funds were siphoned off, and about whether inflated balances were shown, especially with regard to the fixed deposits, sources said. But the focus of the IT officials will be on whether the (income) receipts were also inflated, especially with regard to income on exports which was not taxed because of the available exemptions. The IT officials will also question him on alleged tax evasion and also on the land purchases through Akula Rajaiah, the man who is said to have facilitated Rajus buying large tracts of lands in Rangareddy district.
