The Nagpur Municipal Corporation has launched a website on property tax to clear all doubts of citizens who have always been asking 'how' and 'why'. Over 5,11,277 property owners can now do self assessment to get all records, including tax details, by logging on to www.nmcpropertytax.com.
Municipal commissioner Aseem Gupta said, "Any property owner can get details about his own property by simply submitting the house number and NMC index number alongwith total construction and use factor, building age etc. He will immediately get the tax amount and other details."
After submitting the details, an NMC tax collector will contact the applicant within 24 hours. "He will then hand over the printout of the tax details at the applicant's door-step. The tax collector will only cross-check whether the property owner has submitted the true information while doing self-assessment or not," said Gupta. "In case of any misinformation, there is provision of initiating penal action under NMC Act 1948."
For those who are not net savvy, the NMC will be opening special 'e-counters' at zonal offices where the its employees will provide all the details. "Moreover, we are planning to appoint special agents in every square across the city. They will provide property details and even printouts," said Gupta. NMC at your doorstep
The NMC is all set to start a 'at your door-step' project. With a service charge of Rs 25, the NMC will deliver any document a citizen seeks at his doorstep. "We are setting up a call centre and back-up operations for it," said Gupta.
