Proposed Agreement between India and Myanmar - Avoidance of Double Taxation and Prevention of Fiscal Evasion
The Union Cabinet approved the signing of proposed agreement on behalf of the Government of India with the Government of the Republic of Myanmar for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income. The Agreement would stimulate the flow of investment, technology and personnel from India to Myanmar and vice versa and provide tax stability and facilitate mutual economic cooperation.

The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for signing of the proposed Agreement on behalf of the Government of India with the Government of the Republic of Myanmar for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal evasion with respect to Taxes on Income.
The Agreement after it enters into force will stimulate the flow of investment, technology and personnel from India to Myanmar and vice versa. It will provide tax stability and facilitate mutual economic cooperation.
The Agreement will be signed on behalf of the two countries after it is approved by the respective Governments. India has so far signed and notified such bilateral agreements for Avoidance of Double Taxation with 70 other countries.
