Five from Ahmedabad in CA Top-50
January, 20th 2012

Five Amdavadi students made their city proud on Wednesday when they have ranked among India's Top 50 students who passed the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI)'s CA final exam and Common Proficiency Test (CPT) with flying colours.
Almost 35.26% of those who appeared for this test from all over India have cleared the exam, said an official communiqu of ICAI.

As many as 31,705 students from the country appeared in final exam and 11,179 students cleared it.

As per details provided by ICAI chapter in Ahmedabad, Vishesh Mehta has ranked seventh in India with Sahil Aggarwal, 22, Kamna Somani, 24, Shreyan Aggarwal, 26, Sahil Aggarwal, 46 and Modi Ronak, 46, following him on the Top 50 list. ICAI, however, did not have figures of how many students from Ahmedabad appeared for the final exam and CPT, and how many successfully cleared them.

Majority of rankers are students of HL College of Commerce in the city. Speaking to DNA, Kamna Somani said that she used to study eight to nine hours every day, referring books provided by the institute. "I relied on music and social networking sites to relax," she said.

Another topper, Sahil Aggarwal, said that he studied vigorously in the last six months before the exam. "Forget about anything and just focus on study," suggested Sahil to aspiring CAs. Sahil aims to be an investment banker.

The ICAI also declared results of the CPT and stated that of the 1,15,984 students who appeared, around 40,975 students 35.33% cleared the exams.
