Rs 1.1 crore seized in IT raid
January, 08th 2009
The income tax raid on former Chamarajpet MLA R V Devaraj and his associates on Tuesday yielded rich dividends, with the sleuths recovering Rs 1.1 crore cash. The officials also unearthed a huge haul of documents pertaining to undervalued properties. Department sources said apart from Devaraj's house and office, the raids targeted his associates -- Loki alias Lokesh, and his four brothers Pune, Prabhu and Govindappa. "It was a long pending case and the sleuths had kept them under surveillance,'' an official said. Though all of them filed income tax returns, valuation of properties they held was shown as being much lesser than market value . "The raided persons have given an undertaking to declare the true property value and pay tax,'' the official added.
