ICAI to launch TV channel for accounting professionals |
|
January, 13th 2009 |
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) will launch a dedicated TV channel for accounting professionals. The institute will also offer soft skill courses for Chartered Accountants (CAs).
The TV channel aims to cover everyone interested in the study of accounting across the country.
This was announced by the ICAI President, Mr. Ved Jain recently.
According to Mr. Ved Jain, "Eligible candidates can apply for the recently-launched accounting technician course online."
Certain changes have also been introduced to the CA programme of ICAI.
The Professional Competence Course (PCC) will now be registered as IPCC (Integrated PCC).
Now, any Common Proficiency Test (CPT) passed-student can register for the IPCC without applying for articleship and can sit for the IPCC exam after nine months of registration.
The number of exams, conducted by ICAI has also been raised from six to seven.
As per new rules framed by ICAI, a student can take the final exam during the final six months of their internship, scrapping the earlier rule which required them to complete the internship first.
The soft skill courses for CAs, introduced by the ICAI, are likely to be different from other short-term ones run by the institute.
The institute is also planning to provide scholarships worth Rs.1000 per month to hundred needy students.
