Customs revenue collections up 34%

The Centre's customs revenue collections continued to be buoyant, with collections in April-December 2006 recording a 34 per cent increase to Rs 63,952 crore, against Rs 47,721 crore in the same period in the previous year.

An official release said that excise duty collections increased by 6.3 per cent to Rs 80,249 crore (Rs 75,491 crore). Service tax collections in April-November 2006 increased by 65 per cent to Rs 21,779 crore against Rs 13,201 crore in the same period in the previous year.
