The Siliguri Branch of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India organized a two-day seminar on Direct Taxes for Chartered Accountants on December 13 and 14 at ICAI Bhawan , Teen Batti More, Siliguri. The seminar was organized under the aegis of the Direct Taxes Committee, ICAI (New Delhi), which is the 2nd largest Accounting Body in the World.
The Topic covered was “Taxation of Non Profit Organisations, Trusts, Society, ETC”, “Taxation of Real Estate Transactions”, “Analysis of Recent Case Laws in Income Tax” and “Accounting Standards” . The resource persons included renowned speakers, writers and tax consultant of the country, including CA Dr. Manoj Fogla from Cuttack, CA Gautam Nayak from Mumbai and CA Aditya Maheshwari from Siliguri. They outlined the various provisions of the law and also gave valuable suggestion for better tax planning to members. The covered the various provisions of the Law and also discussed the various case laws which are of relevance and importance.
Programme Coordinators CA Yash Marda and CA Pratik Goyal briefed about the programme and the faculties to the entire house. Welcome address for the seminar was presented by CA. Sanjay Goyal (Chairman, Siliguri Branch) who informed that these Seminars are being conducted to increase the knowledge and expertise of the professionals in the fast changing Tax compliances requirement in the current scenario.
The seminar was attended by more than 150 leading chartered accountants from Siliguri and adjoining areas including Nepal, Bhutan and Sikkim. The programme also had the presence of CA S.N.
