Seized couth syrup worth Rs 10 lakh stolen from customs godown
December, 15th 2012

Siliguri (WB), Dec 14 (PTI) Miscreants have stolen a large amount of a particular brand of cough syrup, widely used as an intoxicant and seized a few days ago, from a godown of the Customs here in Darjeeling district. The theft of cough syrup worth Rs 10 lakh was noticed by the staff of the godown this morning, Customs Deputy Commissioner O G Pal said. The cough syrup stolen was part of a major seizure of a Rs 1.5 crore consignment made a few days ago on its way from Nepal to Bangladesh, Pal said. However, nothing else was stolen from the godown the gate of which also found to be broken. PTI COR NN
