The Baroda branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has completed expansion work of ICAI bhawan in Atladra area of the city.
According to chartered accountant and chairman of ICAI's Baroda branch Pradeep K Agrawal, the expanded ICAI bhawan is a state-of-art building with all facilities for students and chartered accountants.
ICAI Baroda branch had acquired 31,570 square feet land area for the building in 2007. In 2009, 17,000 square feet was constructed during phase I.
"ICAI bhawan proved to be an oasis in the desert and quenched the thirst for infrastructure and facilities for members and more importantly students who began using the Bhawan round the clock, including class room, computer lab and the library," said Agrawal.
"Such extensive usage called for expansion of facilities and under the guidance of our president CA Jaydeep Narendra Shah, expansion work of the ICAI bhawan was commenced on April 24, 2012 to add two additional floors to the existing Bhawan," he added.
Additional constructed area in phase II was 11,000 square feet. It was completed in seven months and 20 days.
"With expansion, facilities like one ITT lab, two classrooms, one conference hall, a office, staff room for faculties of classes, extended reading room for students., roof top cafeteria and two elevators have been added to serve over 13,000 students and 1700 plus members," said Agrawal.
