Markets steady in morning trades
December, 30th 2010

The markets remained static in the past hour of trade.

The Sensex was at 20,340 up 84 points, while the Nifty was at 6,077 up 17 points.

Consumer Durables stocks continued to top the sectoral charts, while the IT index was replaced by the Oil & Gas index as the lowest sectoral index at 10,564.

The markets continued to gain, with the Sensex at 20,341 up 85 points, while the Nifty moved up 22 points at 6,082.

Top gainers on the Sensex were Tata Motors at Rs 1,288, Tata Power at Rs 1,354 and Wipro at Rs 493, all up 1%.

Losing stocks lagging in trade were ONGC at Rs 1,293 down 1%, Bharti Airtel at Rs 352 and DLF at Rs 286, both down 0.4%.

Sectoral gainers were led by the Consumer Durables index at 6,285, PSU at 9,378 and IT at 6,806, all up 1%.

Consumer Durables scrips leading the pack were Rajesh Exports at Rs 126 up 2%, Bajaj Electricals at Rs 235 and Whirlpool at Rs 279, both up 1%.

The Oil & Gas index was the laggard on the sectoral chart at 10,559.

Mid-cap stocks saw some buying, and the index was up 26 points at 7,684, while the Small-cap gained 33 points at 9,545.
