The Income Tax Department has asked all the eligible assessees to pay their Advance Tax before the December 15 deadline. We advice them to pay still before, keeping in mind the deadline being a Saturday, Mr S Lahari, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (I), said.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he warned the assessees from deferring advance tax payments.
They will be liable to pay interest if they choose to defer their payments, he said.
Up to November 30, the Andhra Pradesh region has registered collections to the tune of Rs 6,829.59 crore, as against Rs 4,610.28 crore in the same period last year, showing a growth of 48 per cent.
The target for collections for the financial year 2007-08 was put at Rs 11,623 crore.
