A team of senior income tax (I-T) officers conducted raids on at least 10 business premises and
took away their records amidst tight security on Wednesday.
According to official sources, a team led by I-T commissioner R M Chauhan, Jalandhar division, raided premises of R D Khosla Rice Mill, R D Khosla School and searched house of the owner of the mill. Malhotra Rice Mill and eight other industrial premises were also searched.
While the team members, who seized some incriminating documents and records, were tight-lipped about the outcome of the raids, a senior official of the team said that the IT raids were a routine matter to check tax evasion all over the state. |
