Roughly 120 million Americans will go to the polls today to determine whether Democrat Hillary Clinton or Republican Donald Trump will become the 45th President of the US. The election is expected to be a close race between the two bitter rivals who have employed last ditch efforts to woo voters to their side, visiting key battleground states to shore up support to swing the results in their favour.
Today is the last day for the BCCI to furnish the reports by accounting firm Deloitte on four state units before deciding on disbursal of funds for their players’ payments, allowances and other expenditures. The four states under the scanner are Odisha, Assam, Jammu and Kashmir and Hyderabad.
The Goods and Service Tax Network is to release today enrolments to the portal. Earlier, as many as 80 lakh assessees of excise as well as service tax and VAT were told to start migrating their registration to the network. The GSTN is expected to provide common and shared IT infrastructure for GST implementation, will transfer on-board to its platform the details of about 80 lakh existing assessees of excise, value-added tax, customs and service tax.
In a move towards use of clean fuel, the first liquefied natural gas (LNG)-driven bus will be launched in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday. The LNG-driven bus is being launched as part of a plan of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas to use imported LNG directly for mass transportation and to reduce carbon emissions. The State, which is celebrating 60 years of its formation, was selected following talks Petronet LNG and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. had with the state government.
