Haryana Excise and Taxation Department has collected VAT of Rs 7,087.10 crore in the first six months of the current fiscal, an increase of 18.24 per cent over the same period last year.
Its revenue rose by 15.83 per cent to Rs 9,854.15 crore during the same period from Rs 8,507.57 crore up to September during last financial year, an official release said today.
As far as Central Sales Tax (CST) collection was concerned, more than Rs 770.83 crore had been collected by the Department during the same period, which was 4.64 per cent higher as compared to that of the corresponding period of last financial year.
The Department had recorded 29.42 per cent growth in collection of entertainment tax by collecting more than Rs 26.68 crore during the same period.
Passenger and Goods Tax collection was more than Rs 217.81 crore up to September 2012, which was 9.87 per cent more as compared to that of the corresponding period of last year.
The revenue collection under Local Area Development Tax was over Rs 16.71 crore during the same period which is 47.55 crore more as compared to the last financial year.
Similarly, the Department had collected over Rs 23.94 crore under luxury tax up to September, 2012.
The Department got Rs 1,711.04 crore as excise collection during the same period, which was 12.52 per cent higher as compared to that of the corresponding period of last year, it added.
