Mahindra REVA Electric Vehicles Pvt Ltd on Wednesday launched its 'petrol free' REVAi vehicle, which will available at Mahindra dealership in Raipur. Health minister Amar Agrawal handed over the keys to the first customer during the launching function in the state capital. Chhattisgarh
government had announced VAT exemption to eco-friendly REVAi whose basic standard model cost Rs 2.99 lakh. On the occasion Pavan Sachdeva, general manager (sales & marketing) Mahindra REVAi, said, "Besides being eco-friendly and comfortable the technologically advanced REVAi electric vehicle is also cost-effective. The complete cost of the car can be recovered from savings on petrol costs within six years only".
The union ministry of new and renewable energy has offered a subsidy of Rs one lakh or 20% of the ex-factory price of the car. "We believe the electric vehicle market is poised to grow rapidly", Sachdeva added.
