8 new Addl Judges for Allahabad High Court

Nov 18 (PTI) On a day when Law Minister Salman Khurshid lamented that the Allahabad High Court had 91 posts of judges vacant, eight new Additional Judges were appointed to that High Court. The country's biggest High Court has an approved strength of 160 judges, but is functioning with 69 judges. Separate Law Ministry notifications said Pradeep Kumar Singh Baghel, Ram Surat Ram (Maurya), B Amit Sthalekar, Pankaj Naqvi, Manoj Misra, Ramesh Sinha, Sunita Agarwal, and Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya have been appointed as Additional Judges of the Allahabad High Court for a period of two years. Addressing a press conference here, Khurshid had lamented that the Allahabad High Court was facing a shortage of 91 judges. The 21 High Courts in the country had 281 vacant positions with 614 judges working against an approved strength of 895 at the beginning of this month.
