Oct indirect tax receipts down 5% yoy

Excise duty receipts are down 8.7% at Rs93.99bn while customs duty revenue fell 0.9% to Rs92.65bn

Collection from customs duty and excise duty were down 5% in October to Rs186.64bn, with excise duty receipts down 8.7% at Rs93.99bn and customs duty revenue falling 0.9% to Rs92.65bn.

During April-October 2008-09, collections from customs and excise duty were up 7.5% at Rs1.32 trillion. Excise duty receipts were up 0.6% to Rs653.22bn while customs duty revenue rose 15.2% to Rs666.21bn.

Meanwhile, service tax revenue for September climbed 18% to Rs57.66bn, while for the first six months of the current fiscal year jumped 28.7% to Rs298.67bn.
