About ICAI and CMI&B

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), established 70 years ago, by an Act of the Indian Parliament, continues its operation as the Single Largest Statutory Accounting body of the world. ICAI stands on Four Pillars – Regulator, Standard Setter, Educator and Partner in Nation Building and has been functioning under the administrative control of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) of the Government of India, as an extended arm.

The Committee for Members in Industry & Business (CMI&B) being a Non-Standing Committee of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) focuses on maintaining a strong, healthy and spontaneous relationship with its eminent Members. Chartered Accountants in business have an array of skills, financial expertise and abilities to help their organisation and society to deal with current challenges. CMI&B in its endeavours to promote, establish & popularise the Chartered Accountancy profession for the benefit of the members in Industry and business, is honored to organise the SME Leader Awards to recognise the most deserving member.

 
About SME Leader Awards

SMEs have emerged as a vital sector for the economic growth of any country. As they are present in large quantity across the country, it also promotes local employment. Considering the importance of the SMEs, Committee for Members in Business & Industry felt the need to honor the best talents grooming in these units through its first “SME LEADER AWARDS”.

These awards would be conferred to honor Imagination, Commitment & Success of members who have made valuable contributions to the SME’s activities and growth. Awards would be given to the individual member not to the organization. It's the prime awards for members associated with the small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) which would identify and recognise the best talent based on certain parameters.

Objectives

Awards aim to promote an entrepreneurial culture in nation and recognize exceptional contribution and performance of CAs serving in SME.

Categories & Criteria

Nominees must

  • Be a member of ICAI and should have a experience of atleast 3 years.
  • Nominee should not be holding COP during last 3 years till the conclusion of awards ceremony.
  • Turnover of the organization in which nominee is working should be equal or less than 100 crores.
  • Nomination by the same person in different categories/sub categories will not be considered.

Award Process

  • Stage 1 -The participant is required to enroll themselves in the prescribed form by the 07th October, 2018 so as to express his/her intention to compete for the Award. Each Participant can compete for only one category.
  • Stage 2– Preliminary scrutiny of the nomination forms by the Internal Committee.
  • Stage 3 - An independent jury panel will assess the nomination, carry out an assessment exercise and select the Awardee.
  • Stage 4 - The Winners will be known during the award night.

Guidelines

Nomination Guidelines

  • Nomination form is to be submitted online only. Please visit : smeawards.icai.org
  • List of documents to be uploaded by the nominees
    • Supporting documents for the evaluation parameters, contribution to society, contribution towards promotion of SME, contribution towards ICAI and Recognition(s), award(s) won & personal milestones achieved.
    • Financial statements for the turnover requirement (For F.Y. 17-18. In case not available, provide for F.Y. 16-17)
    • Appointment letter or any other document for the experience.
    • PPT in the standard format highlighting the Key Roles and Major Achievement.(Maximum 5 slides)
  • Nominee has to provide Names and contact details of one Director, Promoter, CFO or HR from the current organization for reference check.
  • Last date of online submission is 07th October, 2018

General Guidelines

  • The information furnished in the nomination form and attached thereto must be complete, clear, correct and consistent.
  • In case of furnishing any incorrect or incomplete information, nomination form is liable to be cancelled.
  • The Jury may finalize multiple awardees in the same Category/Sub-Category and the decision of the Jury will be binding.
  • No correspondence/request from any nominee in the form of influencing others will be entertained.
  • The Committee for Members in Business & Industry (CMI&B) reserves the right to call for additional information.
  • Signature of the nominee must be uploaded and failure of which would cause cancellation of the form.
  • CMI&B will take utmost care to maintain confidentiality of the information furnished in the nomination form but should not be held responsible for any leakage or lapse due to technical fault/failure.
  • CMI&B of ICAI reserves the right to reject nomination without providing any reasons thereof.
  • The decision of the CMI&B in relation to any dispute about the Rules, conduct, results and all other matters relating to the Competition is final and no correspondence/request would be entertained.
