RECRUITMENT OF MERITORIOUS SPORTS PERSONS IN THE
OFFICE OF THE CHIEF COMMISSIONER OF INCOME-TAX, DELHI REGION
The Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Delhi-I, New Delhi, invites applications for the
Recruitment of meritorious Sportspersons in different games/sports as listed below, for the posts of
Inspectors in the pay scale of Rs.9300-34800; Grade Pay Rs.4600, Tax Assistants in the pay scale of
Rs.5200-20200; Grade Pay Rs.2400 and Stenographers Grade-II in the pay scale of Rs.5200-20200 ;
Grade Pay Rs.2400.
ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS
01. AGE LIMIT:
i) Inspector: 18-27 years (as on 19.11.2012)
ii) Tax Assistant: 18-27 years (as on 19.11.2012)
iii) Stenographer Grade-II: 18-27 years (as on 19.11.2012)
Relaxation: (as per Govt. of India instructions for meritorious Sportspersons)
5 years for General/OBC candidates
10 years in case of SC/ST candidates
8 years for Departmental candidates of General/OBC Category
13 years for Departmental candidates of SC/ST Category
02. ESSENTIAL EDUCATIONAL
QUALIFICATION (1) For Inspectors:-
(i) Degree of a recognized University or equivalent.
(2) For Tax Assistants:-
(i) Degree of a recognized University or equivalent
(ii) Having Data Entry Speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour.
(2) For Stenographer Grade-II :-
Essential qualification 12th Class pass or equivalent from a recognized
Board or University.
Skill Test Norms
Dictation: 10 Minutes @ 80 words per minute.
Transcription:
50 words per minute (English) or 65 words per minutes (Hindi)

04. SPORTS ELIGIBILITY :
Appointment can be made of a sportsperson considered meritorious
with reference to the following criteria:-
Sportspersons having represented in International or National
Competition / tournament in any of the games/sports as mentioned in
Para 6 under the aeigis of recognized Sports Federatons/Boards.
Note : Preference shall be given to sportsperson who have represented the country at International
level.
05. SELECTION OF THE CANDIDATES:
The applications will be scrutinized and suitable candidates will be short listed for further
selection. For selection, the short listed candidates are required to appear for following tests and other
essential qualifications/skills as stipulated in Para 02 above (Additional Test will be conducted for Tax
Assistant and Stenographer Grade-II, as per criteria mentioned in para 2 above).
(a) Ground/Proficiency Test (80% weightage)
(b) Interview (20% weightage)
Note:- Success in the above test confers no right to appointment unless Department is satisfied after
such enquiry as may be considered necessary that the candidate is suitable in all respect for
appointment to the post.

07. HOW TO APPLY: Applications must be submitted in following format addressed to the
Additional Commissioner of Income-tax (Hqrs.-Personnel), Room No.
378, C.R. Building, I.P. Estate, New Delhi-110 002 by post/by hand on
or before 19.11.2012.
Also clearly write on the envelope;

08. The candidate on appointment will be liable for posting at any place in Delhi Region. For each
post, selected candidates would have to undergo probation period in accordance with extant
Government norms.
09. Selected candidates will be required to give an undertaking not to apply for inter charge transfer
for a minimum period of 10 years.
10. Attested copies of documents in support of claim regarding date of birth, educational
qualification, sports eligibility certificates, caste certificate, etc. should invariably accompany the
application. Further, latest coloured photograph duly attested by a Gazetted Officer should also be
pasted on the application form.
11. Application duly signed and completed in all respects should reach the office of the undersigned
by 19.11.2012 by post/by hand.
12. Applications received after the due date will not be entertained under any circumstances.
Incomplete, unsigned application without annexures will be rejected and no correspondence in the
matter will be made with the applicant. Eligible candidates will be called for above said tests and
interview. The date and venue for tests and interview will be intimated to the eligible candidates in due
course by the authorized officer.
13. Sports achievements certified by the bodies/authorities other than recognized bodies by the
Ministry of Sports and Youth Welfare shall not be considered.
14. The candidate must be in possession of the requisite qualification for the concerned post as on
19.11.2012. Attested copies of final marks sheet and degree/certificate should be attached with the
application.
15. In case, a candidate applies for the post of Inspector and other post/posts, than he/she shall be
considered first for the post of Inspector and then for Tax Assistant/Stenographer Grade-II's post.
Note : All candidates who had applied earlier in response to advertisement in "Employment News"
dated 16-22 Oct, 2010 for these posts need to apply afresh, provided they fulfill all the revised eligibility
conditions.

CORRIGENDUM
Reference advertisement regarding recruitment of Sports persons to the Posts of Income Tax
Inspector, Tax Assistant and Stenographer Grade-II published in the Employment News dated
29 September 05 October 2012. The following amendments have been made to the
advertisement.
1. Those Candidates who had applied earlier in response to advertisement in
"Employment News" Dt. 16-22 October 2010 for these posts need to apply afresh ,
provided they fulfill all the revised eligibility conditions. Accordingly, the "Note"
appearing after Para 16 of the advertisement may be treated as deleted.
2. Written test for these posts will not be conducted. Weightage will be given as follows :-
a. Ground Proficiency Test (80% )
b. Interview (20%)
3. Separate applications should be submitted by the applicant, for each post.
4. Two new disciplines are also included in the list of Games/Sports at Para 06 of the
advertisement , as follows:-
a. Swimming
b. Volleyball
5. The last date of application stands extended to 19.11.2012.
6. The age limits indicated at Para 01 of the advertisement may be read as 18-27 years as
on the prescribed last date of receipt of application forms.
Other contents of the advertisement shall remain unchanged. Please refer to the website
www.incometaxindia.gov.in, for the full text of the revised advertisement and the format of
application (Annexure-II).
Note: -No appeal shall be entertained against disqualification in Ground Proficiency Test and
Interview for the above posts.
