Equities gained momentum in the afternoon after sentiments turned positive in global markets. Buying activity was seen in IT, auto and oil&gas space while profit booking emerged in realty, metals and power stocks.
At 1 pm; Bombay Stock Exchanges Sensex was at 20100.35, up 94.98 points or 0.47 per cent. The 30-share index touched a low of 19972.91 and high of 20121.01 in trade so far.
National Stock Exchanges Nifty was at 6039.05, up 26.40 points or 0.44 per cent. The index touched intraday low of 6003.25 and high of 6051.75.
BSE Midcap Index was up 0.05 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index moved 0.23 per cent higher.
BSE IT Index advanced 0.77 per cent, BSE Auto Index gained 0.61 per cent higher and BSE Oil&gas Index rose 0.51 per cent.
BSE Realty Index was down 0.90 per cent and BSE Metla Index declined 0.57 per cent.
Bharti Airtel (3.60%), Hero Honda (2.89%), HDFC Bank (1.56%), HDFC (1.41%) and ONGC (1.36%) were amongst the top Senesx gainers.
DLF (-1.46%), Jaiprakash Associates (-1.44%), Hindalco (-1.39%), Sterlite Industries (-1.21%), and BHEL (-1.13%) led the losers pack.
Market breadth was flat on the BSE with 1478 advances against 1406 declines.
European markets were in the green. FTSE 100 was up 0.77 per cent, CAC 40 rose 0.55 per cent and DAX advanced 0.38 per cent.
