The youth should invest their time, and not spend their time if they wish to succeed in life, said Mr T.N. Manoharan, Past President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Mr Manoharan continues to be the Government nominee on the board of Mahindra Satyam (NYSE:SAY) , the strategic investor of the erstwhile Satyam Computers.

He was addressing a meeting of the members of the Business Line Club at the Department of Management Studies, N.M.S.S. Vellaisamy Nadar College, on Secret of Success, sponsored by Karur Vysya Bank (KVB), here.

The current global atmosphere was very competitive, with great opportunities in many fields. Development of skill sets would be vital to be worthy of selection. The young must engage the time in acquiring skills necessary to succeed, and not waste in unproductive pursuits.

For that, one should plan, prepare and practise and not get addicted to any thing other than ones goal till the same is achieved, he said. India, with its sizeable youth population, was on the threshold of grabbing the emerging opportunities, he reminded.

Practice results in accuracy and speed and imparts confidence which ultimately is the weapon to succeed. Absolute interest in the task, average intelligence in execution and adequate involvement in the effort are the inputs required. It must be realised that a bend in the road is not the end of the road and one needs to dream to be somebody, he said.

Earlier, Mr A. Ananda Natarajan, General Manager, Human Resource Department, KVB, outlined the steps taken by the bank to facilitate pursuit of studies by students without financial constraints and explained the schemes to partner their entrepreneurial ventures.
